In the past couple of years FIDIC worked assiduously to encourage development of its Young Professional network. This is in recognition of the role the youths (our future leaders) will play in the development of
engineering in the very near future.
FIDIC and GAMA have notified us of their interest to invest and develop the youths in our region. They have consequently decided to call on its African member firms to participate in this course.
This Forum will bring together youths from different parts of Africa to discuss opportunities that abound in Africa and the accompanying threats. The strengths and weaknesses of African engineers will be brought into
perspective and discussed at length. It is imperative therefore to expose our youths to the international environment. They will move beyond our boundaries with the intention of providing organizational sustainability, networking and sharing their thoughts with their peers all over the world. Some of our firms have sent in staff to attend the FIDIC Management Training Programme and they benefitted from their participipation.
We advise that our member firms encourage and support the youths in their firms to attend the GAMA conference in order to strengthen this newly formed regional Youth Professional Forum.
For your guidance the conference will take place in Khartoum Sudan April 7th to 10th and it is expected that we will have a good number of representatives from Nigeria.
