The Special Assistant to the Osun Governor on Engineering, Mr Adeniran Ibitoye, says the administration’s huge investment in road construction was to promote economic prosperity.
Ibitoye stated this in Osogbo on Friday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
“ More than any previous administrations, this government has turned the state into one large construction site.
‘’This is borne-out of the realisation that Osun should get out of its previous status to evolve into a truly cosmopolitan state.
‘’With good road networks intra and inter-cities, the economy of the state will naturally become accelerated if many parts of the state are accessible,’’ he said.
“ Apart from the aesthetic value of a good road network, it promotes commerce between villages, towns and states.
“ Through road construction interventions by the state and local governments, it is becoming evident that Osun has economic potential through the availability of a good road network.
‘’These roads being constructed are more than window dressing as we are ensuring that quality and standards are not being compromised at all stages of construction.
‘’The government believes in roads that will serve as legacies; that is why we are ensuring world class drains and stone based asphalt foundation,’’ Ibitoye added. (NAN)
