The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has advised the Lagos State government to establish an Infrastructure Protection Agency. President of NSE, Engr. Ademola Isaac Olorunfemi, FNSE, made the proposal to the Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) when he visited the Governor at the Government House in Alausa, Ikeja on Monday, 26th May, 2014.
Olorunfemi was accompanied by the leadership of the five NSE Branches in Lagos and other senior Engineers. He bemoaned the spate of infrastructure vandalism by hoodlums in the country and in Lagos State in particular.
The President told the Governor that establishment of the agency had become essential for government to prevent social amenities provided with hard earned public funds from being damaged by miscreants.
Earlier, the President commended the Governor on the delivery on infrastructure:
“I want to congratulate and commend Your Excellency for embarking on various developmental projects which have transformed and would continue to transform the landscape and lives of the people of Lagos State.

The Governor said such a step will eliminate a chaotic situation that is sometimes presented at construction sites to look like dumpsites. He explained that a situation where the sand, gravel and cement to be used at a construction site litter the road is not very tidy and that even in many instances such materials are dumped without any arrangement for the evacuation of waste from the sites.
He assured that the State is ready for partnerships that will aid effort of the State to achieve its dream of a modern city.
