National Career Fair, Experts Counsel Mechanical Engineering Students as BUK comes first in Competition

IMG-20150318-WA0008Three Lecturers, over a hundred students, over 10 tertiary institutions…. One city! That is the atmosphere at the Engr. Ishmael A, Banigo’s secretariat, Nigeria Society of Engineers, PH. Branch in Port Harcourt as the NIMechE organizes her fist Career Fairs for the Mechanical Engineering Students in the country.

HRM Eze Robinson O Robinson (Eze Ekpeye Logbo ii, Ekpeye land)—Father of the day, Engr Chief A.C. Uchime MNSE,MNIMechE ---Incoming NIMechE  P.H. Chapter Chairman, All the Incoming P.H. Chapter Executives, and the delegation of National Council of NIMechE led by Engr U.P.N Nzurumike,the Deputy National Chairman of NIMechE, who represented the National Chairman, Prof. A. A. Bello at the event.

Aside the Deputy National Chairman, others from NIMechE are; Engr. K. Theophillus-Johnson FNSE — P.H Branch Chairman NSE(NSE PRES REP), Engr Richard Etim MNSE,MNIMechE, National General secretary,  NIMechE, Engr Kenneth Ohuaregbe, MNSE,MNIMechE, Nat Membership Services Sec, NIMechE, Engr . The theme “THE ROLE OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS IN THE MANAGEMENT OF ENGINEERING INFRASTRUCTURES” was delivered by Engr. Prof. Godwin Joseph Igwe FAIChE, NSChE (centre for gas refining & petrochemicals, institute of petroleum studies, University of Port Harcourt Nigeria. world Bank McNamara Fellow and NLNG Chair of gas processing engineering). Other two lecturers who delivered  papers are; Engr. Prof. Godwin Howells I. Hart FNSE,FNIMechE(former deputy Vice Chancellor, RSUST, PH)— POSITION OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS IN THE ENGINEERING PROFFESSION and  Engr. Anthony Abolarin (FMR Technical Adviser to MD, NDDC, Port Harcourt)—CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING.

At the end of the various lectures, there were remarks by notable dignitaries like the Eze Ekpeye Logbo II, Ekpeye land, HRM, Eze Robinson O, Robinson, (Flt Lt RTD) CON, JP, who admonished Nigerian Engineers to pass most of the salient issues being raised by the various lecturers in their presentation to the Federal Government of Nigeria for consideration and implementation and the need for Engineers to participate in politics.
The event was covered by the Rivers State Television, and a local newspaper.

IMG-20150322-WA0022At the end of the day eleven schools presented their various projects presentation at the fair which the nominated panelist, made up of seasoned engineers inspected and graded the winners thus.
First ---—Bayero University of Technology Kano  (66.8%)
Second  --Rivers state University of Science and Technology (64.5%)
Third------ Federal University of Technology Minna Niger State (63%)
The award for the winning schools would be presented at the A.G.M. in Abuja.
