The March 2016 would be one of the moemorable months for engineers and friends of engineering in Osun State. Dignitaries from various various strata of the the society and lovers of Engineers gathered at the Main Auditorium of the Osun State University, Osogbo. The University was organising its Convocation ceremony while it also collaborated with the Nigerian Society of Engineers to organise joint event in honour of engineers, both senior and the graduating young engineers.
An impeccable partnership between the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE Osogbo Branch, under the distinguished Chairmanship of dynamic Engr. Felix Adeniran Ibitoye (Kilomodemo) and the Osun State University (UNIOSUN) led by the hardworking Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Engr. Prof. Oguntola Jelil Alamu.
The event also witnessed the induction of about 157 Graduate Members and 76 Corporate Members, Award presentation and a public lecture by Engr. Prof. ‘Layi Fagbenle, who was the pioneer chairman of NSE Osogbo Branch between 1982-1986.
The programme which kicked off at 10.30 am had the Inductees adorned with their gowns and helmet giving them a classic engineering look.
In his keynote address, the Chairman NSE Osogbo Branch challenged the Inductees at the program to be good Ambassadors of Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE and pursue their career with vigour and pride.
The President of the NSE, Engr Otis Anyaeji who commended the efforts of the Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Engr Rauf Aregbesola, a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, for his interest in promoting engineering education and for his visionary leadership. He also acknowledged and appreciate the Acting Vice Chancellor of the Osun State University Engr Prof Oguntola Jelili Alamu for his commitment and dedication to scholarly activities and knowledge enrichment in the University which in one way or the another positively impact our collective aspiration to greatness as a nation.
Engr Otis Anyaeji charged the new Inductees to imbibe the ethics of the profession at all time. The NSE president concluded by urging the young engineers to go out there and take charge of their world for better.
The elated NSE President then commended the immense effort of the NSE Chairman Osogbo Branch, Engr Adeniran Ibitoye for the initiative and such collaboration. He enjoined other Branches to emulate such partnership opportunity.

The Guest Lecturer, Engr Prof 'Layi Fagbenle, the pioneer Chairman of NSE Osogbo branch and presently the Chairman Governing Council of the Osun State College of Technology, Esa Oke delivered a timely lecture on “Global Energy Sector responses to Climate Change”.
Other events at the program included presentation of Distinguished Personalities Awards to Engr Ife Akintunde, a Past President of NSE, Engr Prof Layi Fagbenle, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, Chief of Staff to the Governor, State of Osun and Engr Prof Oguntola Alamu, Acting Vice Chancellor, Osun State Unverisity.
There were also presentation of six NSE Osogbo Awards to the Faculty of Engineering UNIOSUN Best Students in two Departments and Overall. Adeyemo Kazeem Adekunle with a CGPA of 4.81 won the Best Graduating Student 2013/2014 session and Peter Oluwatobiloba Daniel with a CGPA (4.81) won the Best Graduating Student 2014/2015 session, among others.
