The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Adamawa State Chapter, has solicited for the support and cooperation of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) with a view to providing qualitative services to the people.

The Branch Chairman of the Society, Engr Abdullahi Farouk, who made the appeal yesterday while paying courtesy call on the department in Yola, stressed that the laudable achievements recorded by the DPR were worth identifying with.

Farouk said the society is an umbrella body that binds all engineers in the country with an objective to improve the overall engineering teaching and practice in all its ramifications.
Commenting on the fuel scarcity in the state, Farouk lauded the effort put by the department in addressing the challenge which he observed would soon fizzle out.

“We believe that the issue of diversion of petroleum products will be checked by the installation of tracking facilities on trucks conveying the products”. he stressed.

Earlier in his welcome address, the operations area Controller in charge of Adamawa and Taraba States, Engr Musa Akeen Sunday, said no society can develop without the services of engineers noting that his department would partner NSE in the state.

Akeen explained that new measures are underway to checkmate the illegal activities of petroleum marketers in the country which he said would no doubt bring sanity to the sector.

Akeen while launching the 2016 NSE state calendar promised to encourage his colleagues in his department to attend the forth coming induction of new members slated by the society in June.
