Event: Engr Tasiu Gidari Wudil to Deliver the 2017 Olu Awoyinfa lecture organised by NSE Ikeja Branch





As part of its efforts to sensitise the General Public on the Rights and Obligations of Electricity consumers in the country, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, under the leadership of Engr Akin Akintola is dedicating the 2017 Olu Awoyinfa distinguished Annual lecture to address the subject matter.

On hand to deliver the Keynote Address is the Vice President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers,  Engr Gidari Wudil Tasiu, FNSE.  While other personalities from across the various sector of the economy are also expected at the event. It would also be an occasion for induction of the newly elected Corporate Members of the NSE.  The event which will be chaired by the President, Engr Otis Anyaeji, FNSE will hold as follows:

Olu Awoyinfa Distinguished Annual lecture is an annual event instituted in honour of the NSE Ikeja Branch Founder, Engr Olu Awoyinfa FNSE.

BRIEF PROFILE ENGR. OLU AWOYINFA, FNSE
He was born on 1st June 1942 in Ilesha Osun State. He was educated at Otapepe Methodist School Ilesha, Ilesha Grammar School and St. Patricks College Asaba for the HSC and London University Westham in College where he graduated B. ScHonsEng in Chemical engineering in 1967.

He is a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers; Fellow of Nigeria Society of Chemical Engineers, a fellow of the British Plastic Institute and Registered member COREN No 1060 1979.

He is the founder, Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers 1969; National Patron, Nigerian University Engineering Students Association 1980 to date. General Secretary, Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers 1972, 1975, national Public Secretary NSE 1981- 1983, Chairman, NSE National Engineering Centre Opening Ceremony Committee 1985, Council member NSE 1980 to date.

Secretary General NSE 1986 – 1988, Secretary General Federation of African Organization of Engineers (FAOE) 1993 to 1995 and Secretary General DFAOE 2000 to date.

Member, Petrochemical committee Manchester chamber of commerce 1970 to 1976. Member, WFEO Executive 1989 to 1992. Member O. A. U Faculty of Tech Board 1985 to date. Member COREN Visitation teams to Benin (1980), Minna 1982, Port Harcourt 1984 (2) and Ibadan University 1989.

Member COREN Visitation team to 10 Universities in Phillipines, Cebu and Cuba in 1983. Member , LASG Tech Committee teams to New York on LAPEC and Metro project to Paris 1981.

Member, Governing Africa Network for Scientific and Technological to date. Team leader World Bank SME Consultancy project in Nigeria 1995. Member Board or Governor Ilegrams 1985 – 1992, member Board St Patrick Asaba 1972- 1976. Member LASPOTECH Council 2002 – 2006. National Orator, NSE 1987 – 1992

Production Manager Lever Brothers Apapa 1968 – 1970. First Chemical Manager Shell Nigeria Limited 1971 – 1976. Appointed 1st Nigeria Industrial chemical Engineer Shell Nig. Plc. in 1974 worked as a member of the team that produced the first AsepsoSoap in Lever Brothers – 1970.

Worked with a team of engineers in Shell Nig. Plc. that designed and supervised projects for Speco mill Ikeja, Aba Kadles, SokotoTanery, Kano State Oil mills ,Gusau Oil mills, Onitsha Textiles mills and Niproc Limited, Aroudiuzugu, Imo State.

Current Chairman Ibcon and Associates Limited (a firm of Environmental, Engineering and Management Consultants). He is on the Board of folio Associates Limited, Rainbow Paints Ilesha, Chairman Oye and Co. Limited and Nita farms Limited. 

About Engr Gidari Wudil Tasiu (The Guest Speaker)
Engr. Wudil holds a Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering and Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering (Power & Machines) from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi. He has worked with the Kano State Science and Technical Schools Management Board as Electrical Instructor at the Government Technical College, Wudil. He also served as Engineer 1 (Electrical) at the Ministry of Kano; Bayero University Computer Centre as Computer Maintenance Engineer; the defunct National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) and now he is an Assistant General Manager with the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission.

He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers; Member, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), New York, USA, Pioneer Chair of the, Power & Energy Society, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Nigeria Chapter, Member Nigerian Institute of Management, and a Professional Member, American Society of Safety Engineers, ASSE.

He is Registered with COREN and is the First Nigerian Engineer to be Certified Regulatory Specialist. He is also Certified Public Private Partnership Specialist both from Institute of Public Private Partnership (IP3) Washington DC.
