Community Awareness: Civil Engineers to Walk in Support of Structural Stability and Safety

The Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers, NICE, Lagos Chapter, under the leadership of Engr (Mrs) Lola Adetona in conjunction with the Lagos State Safety Commission have concluded on plans to embark on *a walk for fitness exercise tagged “Walk for Stability” as part of the efforts to create public awareness on the importance of Structural Stability in Buildings.
General Public, Engineers and allied professionals are therefore invited to participate and join in this laudable outing. It is also intended to promote healthy living, potential networking and synergy.
The event is scheduled to hold on saturday* 8, December 2018 starting by 7.30 am.
The meeting point will be the Alausa Fire Service at Alausa and the walk would cover the distance up to the IKEJA bus stop and back.
The objective is to create awareness around incidences of collapsed Buildings/structures and sensitize the public and relative professionals on the need to pay attention to structural stability as well as observe safety protocols during every stage of construction.
Participants are expected to wear their reflective jackets for the walk. An ambulance and bus from the commission will be made available to support the walk.
