The Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE Houston Branch, recently elected new executive officers. MyEngineers compiles the profiles of the newly elected officers of the Branch.
Registered the State of Texas on March 23, 2018 as a non-profit professional organization, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE Houston Branch has come a long way through three unbroken vibrant leadership and seasoned professionals who supported them.
The first Chairman Engr Fisoye Delano led the Branch between 2018 and 2020 laying the foundation for the Branch while bringinh together a group of motivated Nigerians in diaspora to nurture a dream. The second chairman Engr. Segun Jebutu served from 2020 to 2022. He successfully piloted the Branch through the pandemic era and left a legacy of growth and resilience. The third and immediate Past chairman, Dr Solomon Inikori served between 2022 and 2024. His tenure added layers of progress and expanded membership. The Branch also participated in activities of NSE National. It had representatives at NSE national committees and fully participated in NSE Annual Group Dynamic Competition. Despite the constraints of being outside Nigeria, they made a good showing. Engr. Ngowari Diminas, the fourth and new chairman, and her new team are poised to take the Branch higher.

1 - Engr. Ngowari Diminas - Chair
Engr Ngowari Diminas (nee Ihua), FNSE, hold a Bachelor’s degree (B.Eng.), Chemical Engineering, Master’s degree (MSc) in Oil & Gas Engineering, Project Management professional (PMP) certification and an Executive Master’s degree (Executive MBA) in Business Administration specialized in Global Leadership.
She is currently the Vice President (VP), Projects and Operations for Bay Matrix Group (USA) and the Deputy Managing Director (DMD), Engineering & Projects for Westpaq Engineering Nigeria Ltd (Nigeria). She specializes in Projects Business Development, Consulting, Planning, Implementation, Commissioning, and Operations.
A COREN Registered Engineer, she is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Society of Women Engineers (SWE), Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Professional Institute of Pipeline Engineers (PIPE), Project Management Institute (PMI)
2 - Engr. Joseph Adegun - Vice Chair/Technical Secretary
Joseph Adegun is an accomplished Engineering Group Manager with nearly two decades of experience in the Heavy, Light, and Food/Beverage industries. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston and a Master of Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University. Leading a global electrical engineering team for a Fortune 500 company, Joseph is recognized for his strategic vision and innovative approach to complex process automation. His deep expertise and passion for engineering excellence have positioned him as a leader in driving technological advancements and efficiency in the industry.
3 - Engr. Obinna Ugwuegbu - General Secretary
Obinna "O.B" Ugwuegbu with a BSc in Mechanical Engineering and MSc in Engineering Management. He worked for some years at Chemical plant as a Mechanical/Maintenance Engineer in Utilities and Environmental operations providing support for about ten (10) processing units.
O.B left plant operations and has been working for the past 18yrs as a HSSE-Technical/Process Safety Consultant on several small-medium-large capital projects/existing operations and for different sectors, including Oil & Gas.
He is a member several organizations. including ASME, ASSE, MNSE.
4 - Dr. Olayiwola (Layi) Oyeleye - Assistant General Secretary
Dr. Olayiwola (Layi) Oyeleye, FNSE obtained a first-class degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Lagos in 1982. Following his National Service, he continued with his education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he obtained both a Master and Doctor of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering. He then proceeded with a career in Process and Process Control Engineering in the Downstream Petrochemical Industry. During this time, he obtained a Master of Business Administration from the University of Houston.
After a successful career of over 30 years, which included Technical, Supervisory, Project Management and Consulting assignments, in which he was recognized with several Global awards, he recently retired as a Senior Technical Engineering Professional in Process Automation with global responsibilities across all Upstream and Downstream Business Lines at ExxonMobil, USA. His career spanned work assignments in North America, Western Europe and Africa, and consulting engagements in Asia and South America.
He is a member of both the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the Nigerian Society of Engineers, and is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers. He currently serves as the Global Chairman of the University of Lagos Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Alumni Association. He is happily married with two adult children.
5 - Engr. Peter Fadesere - Financial Secretary/Treasurer
Engr. Peter Fadesere, a seasoned petrophysical engineer with over two decades of experience in the oil and gas industry, has made substantial contributions to deep-water projects across the Americas and the Gulf of Mexico.
His expertise in downstream and upstream operations, coupled with his involvement in co-authoring SPE and SPWLA publications, underscores his position as a leading authority in the field.
When not delving into complex petrophysical challenges, Peter enjoys maintaining a healthy balance by cycling in his spare time.
6 - Engr. Dr. Clifford Iroanya. FNSE, PCIM, R.ENGR - Publicity Secretary
Engr. Dr. Clifford Chukwuemeka Iroanya had his Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri and Master’s Degree in Production Engineering from the University of Benin. He obtained Doctoral Degree from University of Phoenix with a major in Organizational Management and emphasis on Project Management.
He worked for 16 years at Shell Warri - Nigeria. In the United States, he spent 1 year at Sunoco Logistics, 6 years with Buckeye Partners LP, and currently over 11 years at Enterprise Products Company. He is a PMI-certified Project Management Professional (PMP), a NACE-certified Pipeline & Corrosion Integrity Management practitioner (PCIM), and a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE).
7 - Engr. Solomon Inikori - Ex-Officio Member (Immediate Past Chairman)
Engr. Solomon Ovueferaye Inikori, Ph.D., P.E (Texas), COREN.Solomon Inikori is a Petroleum Engineer with over thirty-three years of oil and gas industry experience. He has worked with both small-size Independent and major oil and gas companies in both West Africa and United States working on onshore, swamp, shallow offshore and deep offshore projects.
Particularly, he spent over twenty years working with Shell Oil Company in both Technical and Management roles. He was a Senior Oil and Gas Reserves Auditor with Shell International E&P, where he audited over seventy percent of Shell’s oil and gas reserves in assets across the world.
Solomon is the Managing Director/CEO of Integrated Field Development Consultants (IFDC Inc) and Technical Director of Vein Petroleum Limited (an emerging E&P Player in West Africa) and a licensed Professional Engineer with The State of Texas.In his current role he provides expert oil and gas consulting services to major Independents and National Oil Companies in Nigeria, Ghana, and Congo Brazzaville.
8 - Engr. Simon Ehiemua - Director/Ex Officio member
Engr. Simon Ehiemua, FNSE, FNSChE, FNIMechE started his career as an NNPC trainee mechanical engineer at the world-renowned Chiyoda Chemical Engineering and Construction Company in Japan, after which he rose through the ranks to become the managing director of Warri Refinery, picking up a degree in petrochemical engineering along the way.
He is COREN registered. His career has taken him to all the continents of the world except Australia and it encompassed project management, construction, commissioning and operation. He retired from NNPC in 2012 and is now an IT professional.
9 - Engr Babatunde Badru - Ex officio member
Engr Babatunde Badru has over 45 Years experience in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigerating. (HVACS&R) industry. He specialises in residential, commercial and industrial applications of air conditioning, design and installation.
He was the CEO of San Latunag Limited (1986-2019), one of the leading air-conditioning companies in Nigeria. He was the founding president of the American Society of heating, Refrigerating and Air- Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Nigeria Chapter (2009-2012) and presently the chair of the Chapter's technology Transfer (CTTC) and sustainability.
He is a Mechanical Engineer and CEI-UK professional certified. He is also a Member of Nigerian Society of Engineers and registered with COREN.
