Oyo State Commissioner for Industry,Applied Science and Technology Mr. Adedapo Lam-Adesina today Thursday 28th August,2014 at a meeting with all applicants for the 2014 Graduate Industrial Development Loan Scheme charged them on the need to let merit be the deciding factor in selecting beneficiaries.
He spoke against the backdrop of some applicants who had been lobbying him through different channels to favour them above others.
He noted the need for young people to imbibe the spirit of fair play in all ways and to let transparency be their watchword.
He assured of the transparency of the scheme in all ramifications and the fact that on the long run all applicants will be able to access the loan.He also reminded the applicants of his earlier speech during the opening ceremony on how the scheme which had been moribound for years was revived in six months of his assumption of Office in his bid to assist the numerous unemployed youth in the state.
In their response, the applicants thanked him for his concern and resolve to see to the betterment of all productive yet mostly unemployed youths in the State.While also promising to assist in reducing the unreasonable pressure on public office holders by members of the public.
Mr. Adesina also spoke of programmes the Ministry would soon be rolling out in the quest to develop the State industrially which includes empowerment of a thousand youth in conjunction with Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and other plans.
Applicants who had been earlier screened out due to plans that did not fall under industrial development were later given the opportunity to re-present a new plan.
