Clarke Energy Nigeria – General Electric’s Distributed Power business yesterday announced that it has signed an agreement with U.K.-based Clarke Energy to serve as GE’s first authorized distributor for diesel sales and services with responsibility for stationary power generation in Nigeria.

The agreement comes as GE continues to rapidly expand its reciprocating engines technology offerings. In 2014, GE’s Distributed Power business introduced its new 2.6-megawatt (MW) 616 diesel engine and also integrated GE Transportation’s proven 228 and 250 diesel engine product lines for stationary power generation into its growing diesel engine portfolio.

“Our new agreement with Clarke Energy will strengthen our ability to meet the growing demand for distributed power in Australia, Nigeria and India, particularly in various industrial sectors,” said Darryl Wilson, vice president and chief commercial officer for GE’s Distributed Power business—GE Power & Water.

“Having a reliable and respected company like Clarke Energy as our authorized distributor helps ensure our customers receive the best possible service after they purchase our diesel generator set. The life cycle service support the engines receive from the first moment of startup is a crucial element of our commitment to our customers.”
