China Focus: China to build Shenzhen into global innovation-oriented city

China will turn the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in southern Guangdong Province into a global innovation-oriented city, a Chinese official said Sunday. China intends to shape Shenzhen into a modern, global innovation-oriented city and an influential hub of innovation, startups and creativity, Xu Nanping, Vice Minister of Science and Technology, told a press conference. It is a new target ahead of Shenzhen, which has been a Chinese pioneer in innovation and is listed among the country's first batch of innovation-oriented cities. "Taking innovation as the primary driving force is part of the valuable experience of Shenzhen. Over the past four decades, scientific and technological innovation is a key factor marking Shenzhen's evolution into an international metropolis," said Xu. COREN inaugurates Gombe's Technical, Expatriate Monitoring Committees

As part of that the efforts to monitor the activities of the foreign nationals at the state levels, the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigerian, COREN, has inaugurated the Gombe State Technical Committee (GSTC) and the Gombe State Expatriate Monitoring Committee (GSEMC) of the Engineering Regulations Monitoring. Speaking at the even the President of the Council for the Council, Engr. Ali Rabiu said the engineering regulations monitoring was first inaugurated in 1997 to ensure full compliance to the council's codes and regulations. COREN is mandated by Decree 55 of 1970 Section 1 (i)(e) to regulate and control the practice of the engineering profession in all its aspects and ramifications.
