A wake up call has been made to Nigerian engineers to strive for continuous professional development, which would contribute to improving skills to better meet the needs of students, young engineers and, most especially, the instructors.
This charge was made by the facilitator/MD, Bamsat Nigeria Limited, Engr. (Mrs.) Margaret Oguntala, at the virtual general meeting of the NSE, Lagos branch, on Tuesday, February 16th, with the topic: Continuing Professional Development for Engineers in a Competitive Economy.”
Speaking at the meeting, Oguntala said professional development helps employees to continue to not only be competent in their profession, but also excel in it, adding, “it should be an on-going process that continues throughout an individual’s career.”
The chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Lagos Branch, Engr. Ayotunde Ogunnoiki, appreciated the National President of NSE, Engr. Babagana Mohammed, for his visit to the Honourable Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, for collaboration and the innovative idea of establishing the Engineering Staff College of Nigeria(ESCON) which is the autonomous organ of NSE to provide for professional development of engineers and engineering managers.
