NSE approves Osogbo Examination Centre

NSE Executive Secretary, Engr Odedimu presenting the letter to NSE Osogbo Chairman, Engr Ibitoye   Engineers in Osogbo and environs wishing to sit for NSE exam can now rejoice that they would no longer be traveling far away to sit for their exam as the National Secretariat has recently approved the NSE Osogbo examination center. This news was broken to the Branch Chairman, Engr Adeniran Ibitoye at the last Council meeting in Abuja. COREN Public Notice: Delisting of Defaulting Registered Engineering personnel from COREN register

PUBLIC NOTICE This is to notify all defaulting Registered Engineering Personnel that; pursuant to the COREN enabling Act, those who have failed, refused or neglected to pay their annual practicing fee would have their names delisted from the COREN register. In line with this, names of the affected engineering personnel would be delisted from the COREN register from 30th June 2015. In a new regular feature for The Student Engineer, our career experts offer their advice to a young engineer who’s not sure which industry would be most likely to give him a break. ’I am happy to go to into water treatment, energy, renewable energy, oil & gas or even the food industry.’ The problem: I completed my bachelor’s degree in chemical and process engineering in July 2012. Since then, I have been struggling to find work with no luck. When I first applied for jobs, I was told that I had very little experience and I did not have a master’s degree. When I did not secure any interviews I worked voluntarily for a small company as a research and development engineer for a year and in the end they agreed to sponsor my postgraduate study. I now have a year’s worth of experience in the energy and process industry and am studying for a master’s in chemical engineering. FG Urged to Ensure Speedy Passage of PIB

Members of the National Assembly have been advised to ensure speedy passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) before the end of this present assembly. The call was made by the executive chairman of Petrolog Limited, Dr Vincent Ebuh, at the unveiling of the company's new Diving Support Vessel (DSV) Vinnice, in Lagos recently. Ebuh said: "It is in the account of the huge success achieved by the local content policy that I call on the National Assembly to pass the PIB into law without further delay. The quantum INVESTMENT, indeed the overall benefit of that legislation to the sector and indeed the country is innumerable." The President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Ademola Isaac Olorunfemi, FNSE has bagged the Fellowship of the Nigerian Association of Technologists in Engineering (NATE). NATE has issued Olorunfemi a certificate with the no. F- 336 dated 26th November, 2014, signed by Tgst (Dr) Leo Okereke, FNATE and Engr. Dr. O. A. Adeniyi, FNATE, both President and Honourary General Secretary of the Association respecti vely, being evidence of the highest honour of NATE. Olorunfemi now has the authority of the body to use the designation of FNATE after his name. NATE is a professional body of practical Engineers established in 1976 and incorporated in 1988 with the aim of promoting self-reliant technological development in Nigeria.
