We are ready to Help; NSE Apapa Leadership offers to support Lotus Plastic Limited

Desirous of restoring the glory of engineering profession, the Chairman of Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Apapa Branch, Engr Ombugadu Garba has reinstated the commitment of the society to upholding high standards of engineering practice in the country.

He stated this during a visit to Lotus Plastics Limited, in Agbara, Ogun State. Garba who led a team of engineers to the company said the visit was one of the society’s core values.

According to him, the current NSE President, Otis Anyaeji is committed to ensuring that high standards of engineering practice in Nigeria are sustained.

He said: “ one of the ways to do this is by taking frequent visits to industries to observe firsthand what they are doing.   “To see whether what they are doing is in compliance with engineering standards. Where they have fallen short, we advise them as professional colleagues and see how they can improve.

“If they have any challenges with their operations or products, maybe equipment breakdown or challenges designing a new model, we can come in to help them and see how we can make our input.”

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN COREN AND NIGERIAN SOCIETY OF ENGNEERS The two are separate and different bodies so that they cannot be referred to interchangeably. The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) is a voluntary association established by the practitioners of the profession while the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) is a statutory organ of Federal Government, established by decree and concerned with certificate of persons for the purpose of practicing the engineering profession in Nigeria. COREN being the regulatory body for the engineering family in Nigeria, it is therefore necessary to have relevant portions of relevant COREN publications reproduced to serve for both emphasis and as information to all.

Punch Editorial: LCC makes N15m a day on Lekki toll gate – Investigation BY KUNLE FALAYI AND TUNDE AJAJA

Liadi left his Lekki home in his SUV for Victoria Island. He is a regular motorist who shuttles between Lekki and other parts of the Lagos Island. But this day, he had already passed through the toll plaza at Admiralty Way before he remembered that he had forgotten a very important document which he left on his bed. He was so furious with himself because he didn’t have any other choice but to drive back home to be able to make any headway in his business that day. And when he thought about the rigours of passing through the toll plaza especially where he would have to queue for minutes to be able to pay his toll, he was full of regret that he still had to endure the experience. Liadi told Saturday PUNCH, “I was stuck in traffic as a result of the gridlock at the  toll-gate at Admiralty Way for a long time around 9 am that day. I had paid my usual N150 at the toll-gate and was on my way to VI when I remembered that I had forgotten a vital document at home.
