History was made at  the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ilorin Branch, today, Thursday 27th August, 2020, as Engr. Dr. Mrs. Temitope Elizabeth Odetoye,w as elected the 21st Branch Chairman during the 2020 Annual General Meeting (AGM) & Election of the Branch. With this she becomes the first female Engineer to so elected since the establishment of the Branch over four decades ago. She will be taking over from  Engr. Moshood Abdulkadir Akanbi-Oke who just completed a successful two years tenure as the 20th Branch Chairman. Engr. Dr. Temitope Elizabeth Odetoye (nee Obala) completed her primary education at the Baptist Primary School, Idikan, Ibadan in 1986 and attended Ilorin Grammar School, Ilorin (1986-1992). Her leadership skill was recognized early enough when she was made the head girl in her primary school days and the college head girl in her secondary school, course leader during her undergraduate and postgraduate days! Bauchi Governor Synergies COREN On Engineering Standards

Bauchi State Government on Thursday evening said it will work with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) to ensure adherence to engineering standards in the execution of developmental projects. Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed disclosed this when the national officials of the council paid him an advocacy visit at the Council Chamber, Government House, Bauchi. The Governor, in a statement through his media aide, Mukhtar Gidado, said it has been a culture of his administration in reducing and cutting unnecessary spending in capital expenditures in compliance with the basic engineering practices. He expressed concern over abuses of human capital required in the engineering practice and pledged to ensure full engagement of engineers by his administration to enhance its infrastructural delivery. Lagos releases COVID-19 protocol for the worship centers to guide against the virus transmission

Ahead of Friday and Sunday reopening of Mosques and Churches for religious services in Lagos after several weeks of closure over coronavirus outbreak, the State Government has released COVID-19 protocol for the worship centers to guide against the virus transmission in the state. In the guideline, the state government has mandated that the religious houses create a register and record bio-data of worshipers during each service for possible COVID-19 contact tracing. It said that the record would aid health experts to easily trace contacts and break the chain of community transmission whenever an infected person was discovered to have visited the religious house after contracting the virus in the state. The guideline was designed barely three days after the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, approved reopening of worship centres from August 7 and that 50 percent occupancy capacity would be allowed for each church and mosque in Lagos. ADM Energy Plc Pre-qualifies For Nigeria’s 2020 Marginal Field Bid Round

ADM Energy Plc, a natural resources investing company, says it has pre-qualified for the second stage of the Nigeria’s 2020 marginal field bid. In a statement on Monday, the company said it is participating in the bid round as the exclusive technical partner of OilBank International Limited. “ADM is participating in the bid round after signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with OilBank as its exclusive technical partner to support its bidding for and any future development of the marginal fields,” the statement read.
